"The end," Fatespeaker finished the scroll. She put it in the pile, turning to see Starflight's reaction. His expression was wistful and his blindfold was off. He almost looked like an average seven-year-old dragonet, except for the burn scars latticing his face and eyes.        "Is there another part to it?" He asked eagerly. Fatespeaker let her smile grow wider, despite knowing Starflight wouldn't be able to see it. She couldn't help but grin seeing him get excited over the scrolls. Whenever he talked about them, he'd gradually get enthusiastic, speaking faster and faster until he stuttered. Then he would cool down and get nervous

"Wait here, Starflight!" Fatespeaker said, rushing off unexpectedly. "I've got something special for you!" Starflight was quite surprised by this sudden burst of energy from Fatespeaker, and listened as the sound of her footsteps echoed in the entrance to the library before disappearing down the hall. He hadn't seen...well, heard her sounding this excited in a long time. Although Fatespeaker was normally by his side or at least in his general vicinity for most hours of the day, in recent times she'd been taking longer and longer absences to work on some unknown project of hers, and she seemed oddly reluctant to speak about it whenever he ask

Curled up closely beside his mate, Starflight moved his head against the warm egg nestled safely in the blankets before him. He and Fatespeaker were young parents, having only officially become mates in the last summer, but they had adjusted to their new roles far easier than Starflight would have thought possible; preparing their chambers for the addition of a hatchling and figuring out just how the two of them would care for their first child. And being heavy with egg hadn't slowed Fatespeaker down at all; over the last few months she had worked tirelessly in the Jade Mountain Library alongside Starflight, despite his attempts to get her to
